Jumlah kematian cecah 1,100 orang di Padang

PERTUBUHAN BANGSA-BANGSA BERSATU 2 Okt. – Jumlah kematian di kawasan malapetaka gempa bumi di Padang, Indonesia sudah mencecah kepada 1,100 orang dan akan terus meningkat, kata Ketua Kemanusiaan Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu (PBB), John Holmes semalam.

“Jumlah kematian terbaru sudah mencecah kepada 1,100 orang dan kami menjangkakan ia akan terus meningkat,” katanya pada taklimat kepada media.

“Kebiasaannya kebanyakan daripada ratusan mereka yang cedera kini akan menjadikan jumlah kematian akan terus bertambah apabila hubungan maklumat berjaya dipulihkan,” katanya. – AFP
